Progressing the head doesn’t take you back to the original measure

On the iPad, in landscape, when you can switch between measures while in edit mode. Meaning, when the measures are scrolling along the bottom.
So … say you open a sheet music, click edit, click into a measure, say measure 12.
Now, while in measure 12 you progress the head so that you’re now editing measure 13.
So … you’re now editing measure 13. Now when you click done, to exit the edit mode, you’ll now be taken to measure 12, not measure 13.
After I clicked done, it was odd that I wasn’t seeing the measure which I just edited.
Anyway … it’s probably a low priory bug. But just thought I’d share what I found.

Hi Justin and thanks for reporting this bug. Unfortunately, I can't follow your explanation. I don't know what you mean by "progressing the head". What is the head? How are you "progressing" it?
On your iPad, from My Beats, you tap a beat to open it in playback mode. Tapping the "Edit" button opens the entire beat in Edit Mode. Here, you tap on Measure 12 to edit measure 12.
You are now editing the music notes on measure #12. As the iPad now allows you to change the measure you're editing using the navigation along the bottom, so you can tap on measure 13 to edit the contents of measure 13.
After you finish editing measure 13, you tap "Done", and you are returned to the "edit beat screen".
Where does "returning to measure 13" come in? 🤔
Maybe you could include a video showing the steps you are taking?
Thanks!

Derek Lee Hey Derek. Sounds like Zak understands?
By moving the head, which I just kinda made up the terminology… it felt right. What I meant was as you said, “iPad now allows you to change the measure you're editing.”
So … if you open say, measure 5, you make some edits (or don’t make edits, either way) and then you change to, let’s say measure 10, and now you make some edits to measure 10, when you hit done, I’d expect to see the non-editable version of measure 10, not 5.
Here’s my reasoning. A few times I did what I just described, and once I hit done, I would be looking at a measure which I thought I just edited. So … when you only have minor differences between measures, you could think your edits didn’t get applied.
Anyway … to play devils advocate, I could see the argument for leaving it how it is, if you’d say you’re exiting out the door you entered, but the experience of expecting to see what you just edited when your done editing seems sensible to me.
Anyway … it’s not a big deal.
Did you see that message l posted last week? Think I gave some ideas for the looping and sub selection stuff.

Justin Thanks for the response. I'm really sorry, but I still don't understand what you're experiencing. I trust you've encountered a proper bug that needs to be addressed, and I want to fix it for you. However, based on the description you gave, and me having repeated back my understanding to you, it's still not clear to me the steps you're taking.
I'm not trying to "play devil's advocate." I honestly don't know what you're doing to get the result you're seeing. The easiest way would be to include a video. I did my best to repeat to you the steps I understood you were taking. What part of the steps I explained differs from the steps you're taking?
Re: your message from last week - I saw it come through, but you touched upon a lot of topics in there and I've been buried under some high-priority critical work, so I haven't had a chance to get you a proper response. Let me see if I can get to that later today. 👍🏻

Derek Lee all good amigo :)
I’ll try making a video tomorrow.

Derek Lee here you go:

Justin Thanks for the video, Justin! I see what you're doing now. You're starting in the practice screen (viewing the entire beat), and the missing piece from your original explanation: you then tap on a specific measure (this is the repeat measure, or practice measure screen), and _then_ you tap Edit.
Yes, this is a bug - if you've navigated to a different measure while editing, and hit done, it should return you to the last measure you were editing. I missed this when I added that new beat-navigation control at the bottom of the edit measure screen. I'll get this fixed and in an upcoming release. Thanks!! 🙏

Derek Lee Hey Derek. Just letting you know, I got the family sharing to work. All good now. My son and I can share beats. I’m making weekly exercises for us.
Just my two cents: maybe make the restore purchase button more prominent. And maybe some text or something indicating that “restoring purchase” also means activating the app when it’s via family share. In the context of it being received as a family share, it’s not really “restoring” of a purchase which the receiver had purchased.
Keep up the great work!

Justin Thanks for the update! May I ask what the issue ended up being? I want to add it to my list of troubleshooting steps to share with others as well. 👍🏻
Re: UX improvements for family sharing - Yes, yes, and yes! This, along with a slew of subscription and re-subscription usability improvements, are on my short list. You’re not the first person to share this feedback so I plan to get that incorporated soon.
Your feedback helps make Beat Note better for everyone! Appreciate your help!! 🙇🏻

Derek Lee Good stuff.
Regarding the family share .. there really wasn’t an issue. I mean, it’s nothing directly related to your app. Was more about trying to have two parent accounts managing the same child’s apple device.

Justin Thanks for letting me know - sounds complicated! I wanted to at least ask to see if there's anything else BN could have done to help here. 👍🏻

Hi Justin Thanks for bringing this to our attention. I investigated what you posted. Since you are selecting a specific measure to edit, hitting done is designed to bring you back to that measure.
Your use case brings up an interesting point. We’ll discuss this and see if there are improvements we could make for a more intuitive experience.
We really appreciate your feedback, thanks! -Z
