I want to be able to easily edit and playback multiple measures when editing music notation on my iPad

This request is to further enhance the iPad-exclusive edit measure UX (user experience) by adding the ability to work with multiple measures when composing music notation.

Specifically:

Editing the music notation of more than one measure at a time
Being able to listen the the audio playback of a phrase longer than one measure

Working mockup designed to explore the idea of adding the capability to select more than one measure (and which measures) to edit and playback.

Notable elements added to this design are:

"Edit From Measure" slider to give the ability to choose which measure to start editing from
"Edit To Measure" slider to give the ability to choose which measure to edit until
Since multiple measures could be edited simultaneously, measure numbers are added to the
top-left corner
of the primary (located towards the top of the screen) music notation to help discern which measure is being edited.
Additionally, the yellow highlight gradient also illustrates what beats of which measures are being viewed to help clarify what can be edited.

I'm wondering:

How many measures should be able to be edited. Is two sufficient? Do you want to be able to edit three measures? Four?
Since multiple measures can be edited simultaneously, the current approach to changing the time signature for a measure would need to change. This can no longer be a single button on the left-hand side as the time signature of each measure would need to be able to be changed.
Since multiple measures can be edited, proper spacing or separation of each measure must be clearly shown to the user.

I think this could further improve the composition experience. That said, this is not a simple change by any stretch, and it would require a considerable development effort to complete, assuming an appropriate solution or at least a starting point for the above design aspects can be discovered.
