Publicly shared transcriptions

Not sure how big the community is yet, but can we just start a thread or something for posting songs? Talking about actual Beat Note beats, not exported PDFs.
Not sure what format or platform would be best for sharing songs, open to ideas.
I have a bunch of pop songs I’ve transcribed, which I’m happy to post. Would be great to be able to pull from others.
Guess it would need curating? Maybe not? Probably something that lets you tag songs. Google Keep comes to mind.

Thanks for posting this Justin!
I don't quite understand what you're looking for. Can you please explain what your goal is here? What is it you want to accomplish? Do you want to share your own transcriptions? Do you want others to share theirs? Do you want Beat Note to provide actual song transcriptions in the app?

Derek Lee Well … I guess, first I wanted to know if it would be ok with you Derek if people shared their linked beats.
Like … I didn’t know if sharing content via your sharing feature was intended for public consumption.
For instance … if I posted my version of some Bon Jovi song, which I transcribed, which anyone with the Beat Note app could click and copy into their Beat Note app.
So, it would be a repository of music. For us, by us.
I don’t think I noticed any access controls on any of the shared links, so, it seems like anyone sharing their music is sharing it to anyone with the link.

Justin, thanks so much for expanding on your thoughts!
The ability to share links from Beat Note was indeed created with public consumption in mind. While I have ideas for enhancing this feature—such as adding access controls to share beats with specific people or groups—those updates haven’t been prioritized yet, as other work currently takes precedence.
As for creating a shared library or repository of transcriptions, there are several ways this could be approached, including curated content (like the Discover tab, which is an experiment to explore how users interact with shared content) and user-generated contributions.
That said, there are a few challenges I’d like to highlight:
#1. Content Quality and Accuracy: A significant concern with transcriptions is ensuring their accuracy. Many drum tabs and transcriptions I’ve come across aren’t always reliable, and I don’t currently have the capacity to review and guarantee high-quality content for Beat Note users.
#2. Copyright and Licensing: Publicly sharing song transcriptions comes with legal considerations, as transcribing and distributing copyrighted materials typically requires proper licensing. Navigating this space responsibly is important to me and aligns with Beat Note’s commitment to supporting musicians in ethical ways.
While I fully support users creating their own public repositories or sharing links through the tools Beat Note provides, I’d discourage approaches that operate outside of those channels. This helps maintain the quality and legality of shared content and ensures a consistent experience for the community.
I really appreciate your enthusiasm and the idea of fostering collaboration among users. While this concept isn’t something I can implement right away, your input is incredibly valuable as I think about how to evolve Beat Note in the future. Please keep sharing your thoughts—it’s ideas like these that help shape the app’s direction!
